Being Seen by Christ

This week, I needed to feel Christ talking to me as a woman and daughter of God.

Does that make sense?

I needed to feel seen by Him.

I wanted to freeze time and sit with Him.

So, I asked myself:

where in the scriptures does He see a woman and sit with her?

I found myself sitting with a bone-weary woman at a well. Her spirit was in need of comfort and healing, but she did not know where to find it.

The day was hot, I could see the effect that it had on her. She needed a reprieve soon if she was going to go much further.

I didn’t see The Man until He spoke. He looked as Isaiah described “there is no beauty that we should desire him.”1 In a word, He looked…plain.

My heart told me that He was anything but plain.

His words were directed at the hurting woman.

I could not hear what He said. It felt like I was hearing everything through water and the words could not quite reach me. (I knew that this was because this moment was preserved for the woman. While I was allowed to be present, it was hers.)

Though I did not hear what was spoken, I could see the effect that His words had on her.

She was apprehensive at first, as life had taught her to be.

I next saw great surprise and shock on her face. I could feel the air around us change.

She became still and her focus could not be pried from the face of The Man.

I watched as each word from Him seemed to wipe away a bit of the pain that tormented her soul. I could see His masterful hand as He stitched it back together.

Suddenly, I wasn’t under water anymore and I heard the woman utter a few words of hope that I know she had held onto in every dark moment.

“I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.”2

The Man smiled a soft, knowing smile, waited 3 heart beats, and then said words that would change every part of her life.

“I that speak unto thee am He.3

This is when I felt him look at me and my own weary spirit that needed mending. He knew that I needed an anchor for my soul, hope. And so, now still at the well but outside of her moment, the Christ said again, this time to me, “I that speak unto thee am He.”

Soft.

Binding.

Sure.

He then added my own message, also preserved in time for me alone.

I left the well feeling more whole. Softer but stronger.

In those 7 words, He gave me what I had been seeking. That is, Him. Being seen by Him.

Seak Him where your spirit tells you you will find Him.

And see what He has for you.

Allow Him to stich up wounds and give you the words that will bind you up.

He is who He says He is.

I hope that you find Him this week. <3

Love,

MJ
